PUBLIC NOTICE OF PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD ON PROPOSED FY 2020 COMMUNITY SERVICES BLOCK GRANT (CSBG) PLAN.
The Genesee County Community Action Resource Department (GCCARD) will accept public comments as required by the Michigan Department of Human Services (DHS) CSBG state plan for FY 2020. Public comments will be accepted on the proposed plan starting Monday September 16, 2019 until Monday, September 23, 2019.
The GCCARD plan summary is as follows. Proposed Requested Funds CSBG $1,176,939 Local Match (Cash In-Kind). $0 Total Grant: $1,176,939 Program Account 01 Program Administration: $115,194 Program Account 02 Community Services Citizens Participation: $1,061,745. Target Population: low-income, elderly, and handicapped citizens of Genesee County Michigan. Eligibility Criteria: those who lack affordable, safe, sanitary, and decent housing; those with limited access to citizen participation in the identification and solution of problems affecting low-income people.
Proposed Services to Address Poverty Problems: emergency assistance to provide shelter, food and clothing for the needy; Provide technical assistance to community organizations to help clients participate in identifying problems and develop strategies for problem solving. Coordination of Anti-Poverty Services and Programs: the anti-poverty services and programs administrated by GCCARD are coordinated with other services, program activities, and organizations such as Valley Area Agency on Aging, the Department of Human Services, United Way, Workforce Investment Act, USDA Commodities Distribution, community schools and local colleges.
