Greetings

The Genesee County Community Action Resource Department  (GCCARD) is our organizational name, and the reason we are here is because'we help to break the cycle of poverty.'  We are a county department that can assist people in our community in almost any way necessary.  We assure that the people in need, receive the hope and opportunity they deserve.  These opportunities may include pre-school training through our Head Start department for the young; receiving additional and/or job training in order to find a permanent job; seeking and finding of adequate housing if displaced; receiving of  nutritional meals delivered on a daily basis, or receiving home improvement repairs when necessary.

GCCARD is a member of the Michigan Community Action Agency Association as well as many other organizations.  We collaborate our efforts with that of the Department of Health and Human Services, formerly known as the Department of Human Services, the Genesee County Health Department, Catholic Outreach, Salvation Army, and the United Way to name a few.  We have been successful in establishing long working relationships with many of the agencies in our area to further the effectiveness of our programs.

Our Mission Statement

GCCARD is your community action partner! We are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life within the community by preventing and alleviating the causes of poverty, mobilizing, and directing resources to assist, educate, and promote self-sufficiency.”

Organization Profile

On behalf of the Genesee County Board of Commissioners, I want to express our thanks and to congratulate Genesee County Community Action Resource Department (GCCARD) on another year of quality services to the people of Genesee County.

The Genesee County Community Action Resource Department operates a wide array of quality services.  Our children benefit from the most successful Head Start Program.  Low income residents receive assistance through the Weatherization Program and Neighborhood Services Center.  Our seniors receive support from the GCCARD Chore Maintenance Program, and Senior Nutrition Programs.  These are but a few of the wide range of programs and services that GCCARD offers everyday, and which demonstrates their commitment to Genesee County and our citizens.

The Board of Commissioners appreciates the efforts of GCCARD as it strives to enrich the lives of those in our community who are most in need.  Best wishes to GCCARD as you continue your work.
